Serving The Community -
The reality of modern police work differs in many respects from the traditional ideas of simply keeping the peace, protecting life and property, and dealing with crime and criminals. These aspects are still essential and are still a vital part of overall police activities, but the total concept of police work is far wider. Perhaps the police role today can be described most aptly as "COMMUNITY ORIENTED".
Jacksonville, Alabama -
Almost centrally located on the North-South Transportation artery of the county, State Highway 21, Jacksonville is well known as home of Jacksonville State University. Jacksonville is second to none in its reputation for being a good place to live. Jacksonville has the relaxed atmosphere of a traditional southern town, with easy access to several metropolitan areas; Anniston, Al...Gadsden, Al... Birmingham, Al... Chattooga, TN... and Atlanta, GA.
The Department -
The department's total compliment of 31 personnel serves a current population of 10,000 plus, in its city limits and police jurisdiction which covers just under 50 square miles. The community is enhanced with highly technical and professional people. It is with these facts in mind that the selection of police officers for the City of Jacksonville entails a process of choosing only the very best qualified people for employment.

Here is our new 2010 Ford F-150 utility pick up truck. This truck along with the light bar, (2) new tough book 19 laptop computers and a new records management server were the recent purchased with funds from the 2009 JAG grant.
